Camel Leather Stool from Kano

Camel Leather Stool from the Emir's Palace in Kano, Northern Nigerian 

 

          COLLECTABLE LEATHER CAMEL SADDLE SEAT 

Camel saddle with leather-covered wooden seat , wood frame and oval pommels, one at each end. A padded leather cushion is secured to the seat by means of two holes through which the pommels pass. During the late second and early third quarter of the  20th century, camel saddles became popular decorative accessories in Nigeria, and many East Tennessee homes have examples that are being  used as ottomans, footstools and regular stools for seating.
