ANTIQUE TIV SCULPTURE FROM BENUE STATE
Antique wooden Tiv figure carved to represent the ancestors. The beautiful face, sculpted with force, is particularly expressive, the eyes formed by almond shaped cavities, and large nose. The regular tools marks bring light to the dark red-brown patina, shiny on the edges, black detailing the cheeks, pelvis and leg. This figure probably belongs both to magico-religious sphere and that of marriage rites. The dimension is 54cm height and 16cm width.
