HAND CARVED PALAVER CHAIR BY AKIN ALAMU
Hand carved palaver chair is a traditional hand made folding chair made from two simple wooden pieces, typically consist of a backrest and a separate seat that slides through a slot in the back allowing it to rest on the ground for stability with the interlock for easy carriage. The chair is made simple with deep geometric carvings and from a solid, dark hardwood.
Historically, it serves as a symbol for chiefs, elders, or even birthing chairs embodying communal discussion and story telling.
